TINUBU APPROVES 35,000 NAIRA MINIMUM WAGE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS


 The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) announced on Thursday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally authorized the figure of 35,000  naira as the minimum pay for all federal civil officials.

According to the circular, which was signed by Ekpo U. O., Chairman of the NSIWC, the wage award will take effect on Friday, September 1, 2023.

"With effect from 1 September 2023, I hereby convey the approval of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the wage award of N35,000:00 (thirty-five thousand Naira) only per month to all Federal Government workers, pending the expected enactment of a new national minimum wage." it reads

The circular, which was sent to different government officials, added that the federal government ministries, departments, and organizations that get funding from the treasury will also use that money to implement the salary award.

Non-treasury funded Federal Government agencies are to implement the same from their internally generated.” it added.
