An Arsenal fan from Uganda has announced that he is taking legal action against the club for \u2018emotional distress\u2019 among other offenses, following Saturday\u2019s \u2018unacceptable\u2019 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.<\/p>\n
The supporter, identified as Eric Kyama, shared a document on X (formerly Twitter), in which he declared his intention to file a lawsuit against Arsenal.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Thanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/template><\/p>\n In a \u2018Notice of Intent to Sue\u2019 dated April 11, Kyama accused the Premier League leaders of \u2018gross professional negligence\u2018 and \u2018lack of competitive integrity,\u2019 which he claimed is a \u2018fundamental breach of the implied contract between the club and its global fanbase\u2019.<\/p>\n Kyama criticized the players for professional negligence, alleging that they displayed \u2018a complete lack of industry\u2019 and insisting that their failure to show \u2018urgency\u2019 on the pitch amounts to \u2018a dereliction of professional duty\u2019.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/template><\/p>\n Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was also not spared, with Kyama accusing the manager of \u2018lacking the tactical prowess\u2019 required to lead the club and describing the team under the Spaniard as \u2018disjointed\u2019 and \u2019directionless\u2019.<\/p>\n The fan claimed Arsenal\u2019s recent underwhelming performances have caused emotional and financial distress, arguing that fans \u2018invest significant time, emotion, and financial resources\u2019 into supporting the club.<\/p>\n Kyama also alleged \u2018misrepresentation of brand values,\u2019 saying that the club\u2019s motto \u2018Victory Through Harmony\u2019 was contradicted by their lack of fighting spirit against Bournemouth.<\/p>\n \u201cUnless the club provides a formal explanation and a clear plan for immediate restitution of competitive standards, I shall proceed with further legal consultations to seek damages for psychological toll and the loss of faith in the sporting conduct provided. Expect further communication from my legal representatives,\u201d the letter concluded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The defeat to Bournemouth marked Arsenal\u2019s fourth league defeat of the campaign and the third in their last four matches across all competitions. After the game against the Cherries, Mikel Arteta\u2019s men were reportedly booed off the pitch, as the north London club now sit six points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand.<\/p>\n Mikel Arteta issued an apology to Arsenal fans after his team were stunned by Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium. When asked what his message to the club\u2019s supporters was, Arteta said:<\/p>\n \u201cApologise, take it on the chin and that’s it. What I’m trying to do is give our best to the club, give the best possibility to our players, and I know, if the atmosphere, the fans, the support, the energy in the stadium is the best in the world, we have a much better chance. I don’t think that there’s any other possibility to perform better than when you have that kind of support. But then we have to respond, and we had moments in the first half where we did it, and there were other moments that we weren’t at our level.
